@ScottBourne said that if you post a link to MYDL.ME his new blog on “managing your digital life”, that you will be entered in the contest to win a Drobo. I could use a Drobo right about now. Photo storage and backup is starting to be a bigger issue for me.
Check this out. No really. Click on through and try this out. http://pixlr.com/editor/ I can’t believe how fast this web app will load an image. It is immensly faster than Photoshop. No, this isn’t Photoshop but you should be able to do a lot of the basic – and some not so basic – things that you would normally open Photoshop to do.
This is an awesome idea. It didn’t hit me at first what was going on but then I spotted the “wtf?” in the upper right corner. From their about page:
What is flipping typical?
A way to explore the popular typefaces you have on your computer.
I actually closed the tab and had to come back. This saves me from having to open up Microsoft Word to preview a font. Something to tuck away in your bookmarks for future reference.

I’ve had this problem lately with Firefox. When I play a YouTube video and close the tab before the end of the video I still hear sound for several seconds. This has been really annoying and I haven’t been able to figure it out until recently.
It appears that there is a bug that was introduced in one of the 3.0.* Firefox releases and only happens when Firefox is used in tandem with the Flashblock extension.
A little back story first. Autoplaying sound/video on websites annoys the hell out of me anyway so I install Flashblock in every Firefox install I have. If you install this plugin it prevents all Flash istances on a page from loading. You simply have to click once to activate the video. Not only does this prevent Flash content from autoloading, it also seems to reduce the memory footprint as well.
Back to the fix for the problem. You can read all the gory details on Bugzilla.
Fix Option 1
-Disable Flashblock
This option is unacceptable. Must have Flashblock
Fix Option 2
-Wait for Firefox 3.0.7. Should be released on March 7th.
update: The Firefox 3.0.7 update did indeed fix this very annoying problem.
Excerpt from a Washington Post article discussing the design plans for an Apple Store in Georgetown:
Backus assured the board that Apple is not “purposefully ignoring your suggestions,” although he noted that a glass expanse is standard for many of the company’s storefronts, symbolizing its belief in transparency.

Bwaaahhhhaaa. Seriously? In what fashion is Apple transparent besides the appearance of their stores?

Amazing story about Halted Specialties, a surplus electronics store in Silicon Valley. -New York Times
In fact, Apple’s co-founders, Steven P. Jobs and Stephen Wozniak, shopped at Halted, hunting down parts for their first products. During one of these visits, Hal Elzig, who founded Halted and died in 2005, turned down an offer to invest in what would become Apple.
“Hal remembered them driving around barefoot in a Volkswagen van,” Mr. Ellingson said. “They were a couple of young, scruffy-looking guys. He said, ‘I don’t want to give these guys any money.’ ”
